About Ashraful Aid
Ashraful Aid — With Humanity, For Humanity
Ashraful Aid began in 1995 as one family's response to hardship in Marlboro, Johannesburg. Mohammed Luqman Wadee and his wife Rehana started what would become Ashraful Aid, moved by their Islamic values of caring for those in need, first opening a school and a children's home for underprivileged families in their community. Word spread, support grew, and a local act of compassion became a global movement.
After Mohammed's passing in 2001, his son Suhail Wadee, only 19 at the time, stepped up with his mother to carry the family's legacy forward, steadying the organisation before leading it into a period of significant growth. Three decades on, Ashraful Aid has grown into an international humanitarian organisation, reaching hundreds of thousands of lives across the globe.
Our global reach: Ashraful Aid now operates on the ground across four continents, delivering relief to 17 countries in the past year alone — from South Africa to Sudan, Palestine, Lebanon, Ghana, and beyond.
What we do: Ashraful Aid delivers relief and long-term upliftment across five core pillars — food security, water security, education, disaster relief, and social development. From packing food hampers for vulnerable families in Cape Town and Johannesburg, to digging wells that bring clean water to entire communities, to responding within hours when disaster strikes, our teams are on the ground where help is needed most.
"Ashraful Aid International is proud to announce its exhibition at the upcoming Cape Town Islamic Expo 2027. We invite attendees to visit our stand to engage with our team and learn about our current local and global humanitarian initiatives. Join us to discover how our collaborative social welfare programs are actively empowering vulnerable communities worldwide" says Haroun Samuels who is head of Marketing at Ashraful Aid.
